New Six Sub-projects on the Development of Urban Passenger Transport in Ukraine

eib-columnAt the end of May 2018, the meeting of the Management Committee by the European Investment Bank project "Urban Public Transport of Ukraine" was held.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided to agree six subprojects for the development of urban passenger transport, total sum 89 million Euro.

Preliminary sub-projects description:

- renewal of the rolling stock for Kharkov Metro (cost 45 million Euro);
- purchase of rolling stock for Kharkov Trolleybus depot № 3 (cost 10 million Euro);
- purchase of trams for Lviv municipal enterprise “Lvivelektrotrans” (cost 12 million Euro);
- purchase of buses for Lviv municipal "Motor Transport Enterprise No. 1" (cost 12 million Euro);
- purchase of trolleybuses for Chernigov (cost 6 million Euro);
- renewal of rolling stock for Sumy municipal enterprise "Electroavtotrans" (cost 4 million Euro).

After getting approval from the EIB to finance these sub-projects, the final beneficiaries will be able to begin the process of preparing and signing of sub-loan agreement for the mentioned funds and relevant tender procedures.

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine expects that tenders for these subprojects will be held by the end of this year.
